The Bobby Gonzalez era is gone. The era that was filled with hype followed by disappointment is finally gone. The era of great talent that runs and guns with no half court offense and plays a bad press defense is gone. The era of yelling at the refs, the head of the school, the big east and anyone else you could think of is gone. And in come the new era. The Kevin Willard Era. The era of hard nosed defense. The era of half court, efficient offense. The era of the most talented Seton Hall team in years. With Hazell, Pope, Robinson, Theodore, and more this team has the potential to go Dancing. It has the potential to go more than just dancing. It has Elite Eight potential. It has Final Four potential. It has Championship Potential. Yes I went there. Hazell could compete for National Player of the Year. Pope could lead the nation in rebounds. Robinson should average a double double. The team has so much length that its defense should be downright deadly. However, what is realistic. I definitely think Dancing is probable. The Sweet 16 is a reach. The Final Four would be a dream. Here are my expectations: 23 or 24 wins finishing in the top 5 in the Big East. A Big East Tournament semifinal. I expect a 3 to 6 seed in the Big Dance. I expect at least one win in the Big Dance. Two would be great. Three would be unreal. I do think this team has the potential to make it all the way to the Final Four. It is not often you have a team return its 3 best players from a team that had 19 wins the year before. This team could have the #1 defense in the Big East. With Hazell, JRob, Pope, Theodore, Polynice, Lawrence, Hall, Edwin, and one or two more that are not yet known (possibly Jackson, Auda, or Geramipoor) this team has depth, length, skill, and passion. We can do great things this year. We have a great coach. We have great players. WE have great fans. Now we need to finally play to the talents of the team and not play down because of a lack of defense. This year we have a coach that will take advantage of everybody's skill's instead of just running and gunning.
