According to Jerry Carino, Jeremy Hazell has chosen to let his broken wrist heal in a cast rather than have surgery to insert a pin. From the article: "After he suffered the injury in the Hall’s 83-78 win over Alabama in the Paradise Jam on Nov. 19, the timetable given for Hazell’s recovery was 4-6 weeks. That’s standard with a pin, which typically is inserted within a week of the injury. Without a pin, recovery rates vary based on the individual and the healing timetable is less certain, according to those familiar with the process. If Hazell is a fast healer, he could still return by January. Were he to heal slowly and miss significantly more time than expected, Hazell would be eligible for a medical redshirt because he played in less than 30 percent of the first half of the team’s schedule." Reaction: This is an interesting decision, and one that could make Pirate fans happy or very nervous. If he heals fast, he may be back sooner than originally thought. If he doesn't, then the season that a lot of Pirate fans envisioned may be in jeopardy. Seton Hall is taking a risk, but knowing Willard it's probably a calculated one. For now, fans should trust the staff on this.
