The Mercer Bears come to Newark riding two wins against extremely bad competition. That said, three games ago, they took a very good Belmont team to the wire, falling 82-78 on the road. A strange read, they seem to have the talent level to hang around in most of their contests, beating teams they're supposed to while losing to those that are considered superior (SDSU, Mizzou). KenPom has Mercer ranked at #136, many spots ahead of Big East foes St. Johns (#146), South Florida (#150) and DePaul (#156).
As a barometer, the Bears will possess the challenge of a lower-bottom Big East opponent for the Pirates, minus the fanfare of conference play, of course. If Seton Hall thinks they're going to roll out of bed this morning and mop the floor with Mercer, they'll have a surprise in store. This matinee is no walk in the park and Seton Hall has to be aware of the trap. The Bears will hang around with the Pirates, but if Seton Hall shows up focused and willing to defend their home court, the Pirates will put the wraps on an undefeated (at) home, non-conference season. As always, Let's Ho Hall!

6'11 freshman C, Lekan Ajayi who left the Wyoming program in November is visiting Seton Hall today.
And attending Seton Hall/Mercer. Ajayi once listed Seton Hall as his favorite, before cutting him from his final list of three. Then, surprisingly, he chose Wyoming who wasn’t on his final list of three.

I watched the game thread on ESPN. Was Mercer that good or did we not bring our game??? Tks in advance….I live in FL.
Yikes...
JT took way too many shots (18, I think?). Granted, it appeared to be that Cosby was playing the 1 and JT was off the ball a lot at the shooting guard position.
Give credit where it’s due, Mercer is not a bad team and they came right at the Pirates.

Yep. Good thing we have Fuquan and Pope because with out their awesome efforts, we would have lost
Even if they had average performances, it woudl have been a loss.
