The Pirates will attempt to rebound off their embarrassing conference opener at Syracuse as they welcome the West Virginia Mountaineers to the Rock this evening. Seton Hall and WVU kicked off Big East play in contrasting fashion as the Mountaineers crushed Villanova at home on Wednesday, while the Pirates laid an egg in New York. This game has been called a, "must-win," by just about everyone writing it and Jordan Theodore went as far as guaranteeing a victory for the good guys tonight.
The Pirate faithful is well aware what's at stake here, win and we're playing with house money on Tuesday against Connecticut. Although it'd be tremendous to start the season 2-1, realistically speaking, anyone would have signed off on 1-2 against SYR/WVU/CT. Show us something tonight and a sense of confidence will be restored among the team and it's fanbase as the defending champions come to town to kick off the new year. Lose both tonight and Tuesday, and there's a real possibility that a disastrous conference season may lie ahead of us. If the Pirates play hard and fall tonight, so be it, but at least show me more of an effort than what we saw on Wednesday. As always, Let's Go Hall!
