The mystery recruit strikes again. Except this time, it's such a mystery that there's no information on the 6-8/230lb, Ramon Austin (Cleveland, OH), anywhere, on the internet. So much for the package deal of Anderson/Canty/Dingle and possibly Murphy. With Austin set to claim a scholarship in 2012, the Pirates only have one scholly remaining if Kevin Johnson is granted eligibility and none of the incoming freshmen decide to transfer.
Adam Zagoria broke the news this evening:
Seton Hall has landed a verbal pledge from 6-foot-8, 230-pound Ramon Austin, a 2012 forward from Paris (Texas) Junior College. "He's a four man," the coach added. "He can face up, post up. He's got a lot of talent. He can put the ball on the ground, shoot well from the 3. He's a tough mismatch type of kid. He can play some 3 with the way that they play. He's strong enough to play down low if they have to."
Of course, like most of the "mystery recruits" Willard has secured, Austin held no other offers at the time of his verbal.
The actual spelling of the name is Raymon Austin. Furthermore, according to NJCAA.org, Austin hasn't played for the school the last two seasons and JUST signed his letter of intent to Paris Juco on 05/29/11. Is NJCAA badly outdated that they wouldn't have any stats on him the last two years? Possible, but the 5/29/11 came from somewhere and recently.
Despite NJCAA leaving him off the roster and listing an incorrect LOI date, the verbal to Seton Hall has been confirmed by a source close to the staff. Welcome, Raymon.
