Seton Hall announced that sophomore guard, Freddie Wilson will transfer. The news comes as no surprise, as Wilson's departure was widely expected for quite some time.
Seton Hall announced on Tuesday evening that Sophomore guard, Freddie Wilson, will transfer from the university. The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein on Twitter:
Seton Hall has announced that sophomore point guard Freddie Wilson will transfer....
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) January 2, 2013
Wilson, who began the season serving a 2 game suspension for violating team rules, and received coach's DNP in 3 other games, averaged just 1.4pts/0.8ast, while logging nearly 3 minutes less (5.4mpg) than he saw last year, behind Jordan Theodore.
It became evident that Wilson was unable to get out of Kevin Willard's doghouse, after he was relegated to 3rd on the PG depth chart behind Freshman Tommy Maayan and converted 2G, Aaron Cosby. Wilson actually saw most of his time this season at the 2G, of which was mostly garbage time, often playing alongside Maayan, as the staff didn't have confidence in him to run the offense at this level.
Freddie Wilson becomes the 2nd point guard from Kevin Willard's six man 2011 class to transfer out of Seton Hall, joining PG Sean Grennan, who left for Fairfield in May.
From all of us at the Juice, we wish Freddie nothing but the best at his future university!
