It took until the first day of the spring signing period, but Seton Hall has finally announced the return of Fred Hill to the coaching staff. Hill replaces assistant coach Chris Pompey, whose name is in the mix for a similar position at Cal State Northridge. Here is our brief story from Friday when Hill accepted Seton Hall's offer.
"We are excited to welcome Fred back to the Seton Hall family," said Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard. "Fred has a great basketball mind and brings over 30 years of experience to our coaching staff. He is a proven recruiter who has a track record of attracting elite talent in each of his coaching stops. Fred enjoyed tremendous success on the recruiting trail in his first term at Seton Hall, and we look forward to this next chapter of his coaching career."
With Jaren Sina trimming Alabama from his list and setting up a visit to Indiana last night, Fred Hill looks to take over the recruiting reigns of the New Jersey shooting guard that he convinced to commit to Northwestern. Hill coached at Seton Hall under Tommy Amaker from 1998-2001 prior to a position on Jay Wright's staff, 4 years at the helm of Rutgers, and an assistant position under Bill Carmody at Northwestern.
"I am grateful for this opportunity to work with Coach Willard and his terrific staff," said Hill. "It feels great to be back home at Seton Hall where I have so many fond memories. This is truly an exciting time to rejoin the Pirate family as we embark on the new BIG EAST basketball conference. I look forward to working tirelessly with our staff to make my second experience at Seton Hall as wonderful as my first."
