New York City - First, the numbers. Seton Hall defended their way to victory holding Butler to an 83 offensive efficiency. The Pirates posted an 85. OT very good but enough when you hold the opposition to 8. The other number is 12.The time Seton Hall plays Villanova tomorrow hnks to pulling this out.
Coach Kevin Willard commended Eugene Teague for "playing his best ball the last five games. Teague (14 points and 11 boards) was too much for Butler to handle as the Hall opened a double digit lead the second half.
The last eight minutes my shot chart shows Seton Hall hitting to field goals ( both Teague) . Butler was good for six. A common thread this year has been the Hall wilting in the stretch. Tonight, though, they finished the deal to live another day.
Butler, finishing 14-1 was led by Khyle Marshall with 22. The key , per Butler coach Brandon Miller, was the Pirates' defense on Kellen Dunham who scored 4 on 2 of 10 shooting. Miller noted, "Seton Hall never Los sight of him and did a god job extending their zone."
In the process, Willard & co. ( Now 16 and 16) extended their season.
