Former Pirate, Jeremy Hazell, was signed by Lucentum Alicante in the pre-season and appeared in six games (6.8pts) before being released today. We wish Jeremy the best of luck as he searches for his next professional basketball stop.
Hey folks! With the season under ONE WEEK AWAY, the Pirates will host their annual Meet the Team event, complete with the Blue-White scrimmage on Sunday starting at 4 PM. Be sure to follow both myself (@JPGuerette)and @CerasolisGhost (BracketManSHU to you SOJers), who will be making the trip up to South Orange, for all the highlights of the day. Go Pirates! Update 6:27PM In this afternoon's closed door scrimmage against UMass, the Pirates defeated the Minutemen by 30+ points. Aaron Cosby dropped 23 points in the effort, including 5-of-10 from long range.
Click the above link for Jerry Carino's transcript of Kevin Willard's press conference from Seton Hall's media day. I will update Jerry's thoughts that will be coming in version 2.0 when he updates his blog. Be sure to check out the transcript. "This group has done a great job of setting a new tone for the basketball program. Last year we defended and we got after it, but we just had so many issues off the court that really stopped us from being a good team."
Hey guys- I'll be attending Big East Media Day today for WSOU, and while I'm there, I'll be tweeting as usual. Follow along especially if you're a Big East fan in general because after all, Seton Hall has their own media day next week that I will also attend, so there will be Pirates stuff today, but not too much. Gotta keep 'em in suspense, I always say. Go Pirates!
Hey guys- yours truly will be hosting Pirate Primetime TONIGHT from 7-8 PM on 89.5 FM WSOU and wsou.net. We'll be talking about the aftermath of Kyle Anderson's decision, as well as some conference realignment issues. You can call in to be on the show at (973) 761-9768. That's (973) 761-WSOU!
You knew it was coming, right? I'll be making the short trek to Paterson tonight to observe the atmosphere, and the several SHU recruiting targets (including, of course, Kyle Anderson). Click on the link to get to the tweets- gametime is 8 PM!
Zagoria: "Jeremy Hazell, one of the most prolific scorers in Seton Hall history, is headed to Spain and will play alongside former Duke standout Kyle Singler. The 6-foot-5 Hazell signed a two-year deal with Alicante that has an NBA out after one season." Follow the link above for quotes from Jeremy.
Jerry Carino reporting: "Johnson’s impending arrival is good news for the Pirates. According to a source in the know, however, his eligibility status is "still in NCAA review." Johnson recently wrapped up summer school in an effort to improve his academic portfolio."
I seriously cannot believe this actually happened. A Georgetown assistant explained what happened. Check the comments for his account.
As you can see from the link, the official dates and times of the 2011 BIG EAST/SEC Challenge are out, and the Pirates are slated to play Auburn at the Prudential Center on Friday, December 2nd at 9 PM. The game will be the late game televised on ESPNU, following a matchup of Cincinnati at Georgia. It's a nice game time for Pirate fans, as the game is not only a late start (giving people the opportunity to go after they get off work), but because it's on a Friday night AND against a major-conference opponent, the crowd at this game should be a good one. Expect more details of the non-conference slate to be released within the month, and as always, expect South Orange Juice to be on top of it all!
