A Look at the 2009-2010 Newcomers

Bobby Gonzalez undoubtedly has his most talented squad in South Orange since taking over the realm from Louis Orr in 2006, thanks in part to a pair of transfers that spent last year on the sidelines. The Pirates are counting on Herb Pope (NMSU) and Keon Lawrence (Mizzou) to help them improve from consecutive 7-11 Big East conference records.

Other transfers include Jeff Robinson (Memphis) and Jamel Jackson (Juco-TCI) who will compete for playing time on the wing. Big Melvyn Oliver, sat out last year redshirting due to NCAA Clearinghouse issues, but the 6-11, 340 pound freshman will provide depth to a greatly improved Pirates frontcourt.

The only true freshmen is another impressive addition to the frontcourt in Ferrakohn Hall (White Station HS, TN) who chose the Hall over Baylor, UAB and Oklahoma. Over the course of the next few days, we will be profiling each player individually.
