Hopefully everyone enjoyed their father's day yesterday. A couple of Seton Hall links for the occasion:
Mike Vorkunov reports that Kevin Willard's love of basketball was a father's gift:
"Coach-wise, I think he's been influential just in having an unbelievable sounding board ever since I've gotten into the business. If I ever had a question or how do I attack a situation or how do you get a shot for a four-man in this situation or what do you think the objective is in this situation. He was always there to give me advice but the funny thing was he never tried to get me to do what he does. He gave me advice but not what he thought was good or what he thought was wrong. He's been influential in every aspect of my life."
Former Pirate and current associate head coach, Shaheen Holloway's world revolves around his sixteen year old daughter:
Five years ago, he walked away from the second year of a professional contract with his German club team to move back home and assume full custody of then 11-year-old Shatanik. And today, as Holloway celebrates his first Father's Day since returning to his alma mater as associate head coach to new coach Kevin Willard, he still is framing his every move around his daughter, now 16, a high school senior-to-be.
Lastly, Maurice Harkless, a University of Connecticut commit is opening up his recruitment. Harkless stated that the investigation was, "part of it." The Pirates have previously offered a scholarship to Harkless and you'd have to assume they're going to get involved once again:
"I want to just reopen my recruitment," Harkless told SNY.tv exclusively Monday morning by phone. "I just want to make sure UConn is still the right choice and explore my other options." The No. 21 small forward in the Class of 2011, Harkless averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds last season at Forest Hills High.
