Opening Line Seton Hall -1.5 |
For the third round of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, the schools have left the comfort of their home venues and travel to the Mohegan Sun to participate in an actual tournament format. The first two "rounds" saw three high majors (Seton Hall, Washington and Ohio State) and a mid-major (Rhode Island) paired against four perceived cupcakes.
Despite the setup, Seton Hall was the only team to come away with two victories - Ohio State only played once, defeating Albany; Washington split (beating Loyola Maryland, but losing by a point to Albany) and Rhode Island lost their only 'Tip-Off' game to Norfolk State. The other four teams in this "tournament," -- Norfolk State, UMKC, Albany and Loyola Maryland, will face each other in the Springfield Bracket, while the, "big boys" play this evening in the Naismith bracket. Tomorrow's championship action revolves around Ohio State, as the Buckeyes will play at 4:30PM on Sunday. If they beat Rhode Island (and they will), the winner of Washington and Seton Hall will meet them for Naismith gold, while the consolation game will take place at 7:00PM. Got all that? Good.
Stick around for the game and of course, we'll have all your Pirates coverage post game, as the Pirates look to advance to 3-0, while securing their first neutral site victory.
As always, Let's go Seton Hall!
