The Catholic 7 - DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall & Villanova - have officially found their first three conference-mates in the form of Butler and Xavier of the Atlantic-10, and Creighton of the Missouri Valley Conference.

The news was announced this morning at 11 A.M. in a joint press conference that included the presidents of all schools involved, FOX Sports Media Group Co-President and COO Randy Freer, FOX Sports Media Group Executive Vice President Larry Jones and Joel Fisher, Madison Square Garden Executive Vice President, Sports & Arena Transformation.

Also announced was a blockbuster television deal with FOX Sports and an extension of the Big East Tournament's contract with Madison Square Garden until 2026. The 12-year TV deal with FOX Sports includes all men's & women's hoops as well as all Olympic sports. The deal is thought to be in the region of $500 million. Financial terms were not disclosed.

FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports' newly minted national multi-sport channel which launches this summer, is slated to televise over 100 men's regular-season basketball games next season. The network is also scheduled to carry the entire Big East Men's Basketball Tournament each season, live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, the tournament's home since 1983, and the longest-running conference tournament played at one venue.

Also included in the agreement is a full array of "TV Everywhere" rights which adds to the robust content already available on, one of the nation's leading sports Internet sites and FOX Sports GO, a groundbreaking mobile sports experience for iPhone, iPad and Android devices launching this August in conjunction with FS1. FOX Sports Go offers more than 1,000 live games and events from across FOX Sports, FS1 and FOX Sports' 22 regional sports networks, as well as scores, highlights, news, stats, and analysis. Live games and events are available to subscribers of participating cable, satellite, and telco providers at no additional cost.

Russell Reynolds Associates will conduct the search for the new Big East's first commissioner. Former Big-12 commissioner Dan Beebe, who is famous for handing down an NCAA death penalty to SMU, is a consultant for the Big East.
