Luicci: Fred Hill accepts Seton Hall job

New, 8 comments

With Seton Hall assistant Chris Pompey bound for Reggie Theus' staff at Cal State Northridge, it appears that Fred Hill has accepted the vacant assistant coaching position at Seton Hall.

Jerry Carino broke the rumored news on Thursday that Fred Hill was close to an assistant position at Seton Hall. This came a few days after Chris Pompey was linked with the Florida Gulf Coast head coaching position.

Fred Hill, the main recruiter of Jaren Sina at Northwestern, brings head coaching experience from Rutgers as well as recruiting positions on Tommy Amaker's staff at Seton Hall, Jay Wright's at Villanova and most recently Bill Carmody's at Northwestern. Known for his recruiting prowess in New Jersey, Hill may be the late surge that Seton Hall needs to land Jaren Sina, who just returned from a visit to Alabama.

With the spring signing period less than a week away, Seton Hall has no Class of 2013 recruits lined up. Beyond Jaren Sina, they are currently targeting forwards such as Darryl Reynolds and Rasheed Anthony and guards like Nigel Johnson and Jon Severe.

Seton Hall currently has three scholarships open -- four if Tom Maayan has to return to Israel to fulfill military commitments, which appears very likely.
