Seton Hall receiving AP Top 25 votes, Gibbs named Big East Player of the Week

The Pirates are starting to receive AP Top 25 recognition and Sterling Gibbs is awarded for his 40-point effort against Illinois State.

Seton Hall has attracted national recognition after their grueling 58-54 win over George Washington on Saturday. Kevin Willard's 5-0 team is receiving five votes in the latest AP Top 25 released this morning.

Georgetown and Providence have earned votes while Creighton dropped out of the Top 25 but is still receiving recognition. Butler enters that Top 25 at  No. 23 and Villanova moves up two spots to No. 12. St. John's also collected five votes after beating Minnesota and playing Gonzaga tough this week.

Sterling Gibbs' 40-point effort against Illinois State did not fly under the radar. The junior guard has been named Big East Player of the Week, Gibbs also scored 11 points against George Washington.
