Seton Hall-bound guard Isaiah Whitehead (Abraham Lincoln, N.Y.) will participate in the 2014 McDonald's All-American game tonight at 9:30 ET on ESPN and ESPN3.com. Whitehead is the lone senior selected to participate in the all-star game that is headed to a Big East school next season.
Isaiah's profile from the official game program:
Whitehead uses his athleticism and strength to attack the rim and convert with great power and body control. He has the ability to pull up on the break and knock down shots with consistent range from beyond the 3-point line. Whitehead is also a solid rebounding guard with a knack for finding his teammates in scoring areas. He compares his style on the court to that of 2007 McDonald's All American James Harden. In the fall, he will attend Seton Hall, becoming just the fifth McDonald's All American to play for the Pirates and the first since 2000.
Seton Hall history in the McDonald's All-American game:
1990 - Luther Wright (Elizabeth HS, N.J.)
1996 - Shaheen Holloway (St. Patrick HS, N.J.)
2000 - Eddie Griffin (Roman Catholic HS, Pa.)
2000 - Andre Barrett (Rice HS, N.Y.)
2014 - Isaiah Whitehead (Abraham Lincoln HS, N.Y.)
Whitehead participated in the Powerade Jam Fest's three-point contest (part of the all-star game festivities that aired last night) but did not reach the finals, which consisted of four out of thirteen players. He recently played with three other members of Seton Hall's recruiting class in the 68th annual CYP tournament in which he was named MVP. Isaiah can be seen in the Jordan Brand Classic national game on April 18th at the Barclays Center.
