Former Seton Hall shooting guard Jeremy Hazell has signed a contract with Virtus Bologna of Serie A, the top flight of basketball in Italy. Virtus has won four different European club trophies and has reached a final seven other times since the late 1970s.
Hazell played with Lithuanian team Juventus last season, where he averaged 12.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg, and 1.2 apg in 21 games played, according to Sportando.
One of Seton Hall's more well known players over the last ten years, Hazell saw nine games of action in the D-League with the Bakersfield Jam in 2011-12 (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.7 apg) after originally crossing the Atlantic for Spanish club Lucentum Alicante following his career at Seton Hall. Hazell then briefly played with the Phoenix Suns during their 2011-12 preseason before signing to play in Venezuela in March of 2012. Jeremy then played in the Dominican Republic for Caneros LR prior to Juventus.
Hazell joins former American collegiate players Okaro White (Florida State 2010-14, 13.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg), Abdul Gaddy (Washington 2009-13, 10.9 ppg, 4.6 apg), Augustus Gilchrist (South Florida 2008-12, 9.5 ppg, 5 rpg) and Allan Ray (Villanova 2002-06, 18.5 ppg) on Virtus Bologna's roster. Gaddy and Gilchrist come from the NBA's D-League while Okaro White played with Memphis' summer league team and was invited to participate in their training camp prior to signing with Virtus Bologna.
A notorious long-range volume shooter for Seton Hall, Jeremy Hazell made sure to end his career with a bang against Rutgers:
