While most people thought that Seton Hall would drop from today's AP Top 25, the Pirates have stayed ranked at No. 24 following an overtime loss to Butler at home. This is the third consecutive week that the Hall has received a ranking. Seton Hall is also 24th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Big East is further represented by Villanova at No. 4. Georgetown (33), Providence (17), Butler (11) and St. John's (1) are also receiving votes.
Khadeen Carrington picked up Big East Rookie of the Week honors for his 20-point effort against Butler, making it the sixth time a Seton Hall freshman has won the award this season. Darius Lane set the Hall's previous season-high with six weekly awards during the 1999-00 campaign. Seton Hall has taken home the honor six of the last seven weeks and the last four straight.
Carrington has played a major role in Kevin Willard's backcourt with Isaiah Whitehead out injured. He has proved to have the ability to create shots and score in several different ways, especially attacking the basket. Carrington has averaged 12.8 ppg and 2 apg in 29 mpg during five Big East games.
