After scoring a career-high 39 points while playing with the flu in late January, earning him Athlete of the Week honors, Seton Hall signee Dalton Soffer (Poway HS, Calif.) has come on strong as the senior doesn't want his career to end just yet.

Conventionally thought of as a shooting guard, Soffer has notably developed more just his outside game and at 6-foot-5, can be thought of as a combination between a guard and a wing now. Soffer signed with Seton Hall in November.

Including the 39-point career night in late January, Dalton has averaged 22 ppg over his last nine that includes six 20-plus point outbursts, three of which have come over his last three games.

Poway High School, located about 30 minutes north of San Diego, finished their season 16-12 (5-5) and had to play without Soffer for six games due to an injury, subsequently being handed a 6-seed in the CIFSDS Division 1 playoffs. Due to California Interscholastic Federation format, the D-1 playoffs are the rough equivalent of the NIT with the Open Playoffs an eight-team bracket that Poway did not qualify for. The winner of the San Diego D-1 Section does not advance to a D-1 state playoff bracket.

If anything, Poway's post-season outlook hasn't affected Soffer, who has scored 26 points in each of Poway's playoff wins to propel his school to the semis, which will be played on Tuesday against 2-seed Escondido. Soffer sank six three-pointers in Poway's upset of 3-seed Cathedral Catholic last night.
