In need of forwards to add to their ranks next season, Seton Hall has picked up a commitment from Myles Carter of Chicago's St. Rita High School.
A 6-foot-9 power forward, Carter officially visited Seton Hall for their exhibition against Caldwell last fall, sitting next to current signee Dalton Soffer and taking part in a post-game dinner with the team and staff afterward.
Myles told me at the time that Memphis, DePaul, VCU, SIU-E, UIC and Saint Louis were actively recruiting him and that he had visited DePaul. In late December, it was reported that his list had been trimmed to Seton Hall, Memphis and DePaul, but his recruitment had grown quiet since.
Carter played alongside Kentucky-bound Charles Matthews at St. Rita this season, suffering a knee injury in December that he would later return from to average 6 ppg, 7 rpg and 3 bpg. He is Seton Hall's third Class of 2015 commitment, joining shooting guard Dalton Soffer and wing Veer Singh. Rivals rates him as a 3-star recruit while 247Sports has him as a top-250 prospect.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Carter also considered DePaul, Memphis, VCU and Cleveland State with the firing of Oliver Purnell playing a factor in his decision.
The Hall now has one scholarship open for next season and is actively recruiting junior college forward Ray Kasongo.
Dalton Soffer and Isaiah Whitehead have already reacted to the news:
